Emoticons - are they important?

I’ve been silently doing a little survey/research myself about people’s response on replies with and without emoticons/smileys.

I noticed when a sentence has no emoticon, people tend to think that the other person is not interested in having a conversation with you. Say for this simple example,

Person A says: “just got back from my trip, it was amazing XD”

Person B replies: “glad you had fun”

What would person A think? To me, person A would think that person B was just replying for the sake of replying. Imagine if person B were to reply this:

“glad you had fun! :)”

I’m sure person A would be all excited to tell person B more about his/her trip. Also, notice the presence of the exclamation mark. Don’t you think they make a difference? Because I certainly do.

My family back home randomly called me on FaceTime today. It didn’t really work on my iPod so I did it on my Mac instead. Using FaceTime on the computer for the first time, I must say it was wonderful!

Not only I got to see my family, I got to see my dog too. I miss you Charcoal!

This is lame, but we even compared vegetables!

I was tagged on Facebook in some of these photos today. Best tags ever! My cousin recently went to Japan. Photos were taken in Japan’s Universal Studios. The fact that they have Sesame Street there, WIN!

I went to Singapore’s Universal Studio last year, Elmo was no where to be found. They do not even have huge centre stage like this. Well at least I did enjoy myself there, my first Universal Studio experience.

I’m down for anything related to Sesame Street, Elmo especially. So if you happened to see any of them, do let me know!

Shane Dawson’s Aunt Hilda’s version of Last Friday Night - uploaded 18th September 2010

Katy Perry’s Last Friday Night Official Video - uploaded 12th June 2011

Isn’t it very obvious that Katy Perry stole Shane Dawson’s idea for her Last Friday Night video? Two possibilities, it’s either Katy really liked Shane’s idea that she decided to use it on her own video or Katy just wanted to spoof Shane’s video spoof. Think of it, if Shane spoofs Katy’s video again this time, what do we get? SPOOFCEPTION!!

It’s really cool that Katy included Rebecca Black, Darren Criss, Kevin McHale, Hanson, Kenny G, Debbie Gibson and Corey Feldman in the video. I got to admit that Rebecca Black looked really good in it. Yay for Darren Criss, Kevin McHale and Kenny G!

Nevertheless, I still prefer Shane’s version. He makes really great spoofs and it’s always the best. If you haven’t check out his Lady Gaga’s Judas spoof, you totally should go watch it NOW!

You know we always have that one favourite (sometimes a few) when we watch a tv show, especially reality tv shows. That one person you would always cheer for no matter what. Here are my favourites.

THE AMAZING RACE AUSTRALIA - Tyler and Nathan

MASTERCHEF AUSTRALIA - Hayden Quinn

and I love Gary Mehigan too! <3

AUSTRALIA’S GOT TALENT - Sad to say that I still don’t have a favourite for this, but, I have a favourite judge: Brian McFadden!

ME + WHAT’S SHOWING AT THE CINEMA = EPIC FAIL!

Seriously, when I received this invitation on Facebook:

I thought it’s $5 for a First Class ticket to watch X-Men. (Don’t laugh!) I didn’t even know that there’s a new X-Men movie. Double fail.

Next is Green Lantern. I never knew there’s a new Green Lantern movie. At least this movie is still not released yet. So .. *big sigh of relief* I can still go around telling people, you know there’s this Green Lantern movie …

2 superhero movies at a time. Really?

One thing for sure, whenever I see Green Lantern, the first person that comes into my mind is Sheldon from Big Bang Theory.

I always tell people that I don’t like to listen to rap. While I was digging through my iTunes library, I realised that wasn’t true at all. I actually do listen to rap. These are the 3 artists I found in my iTunes.

  • Eminem
  • Asher Roth
  • The Streets

What do they have in common? They are non-blacks. Which means I only listen to raps not sung by blacks. Not trying to be racist, it’s just how it turned out to be.

Cool! I listen to rap yo!

My MSN personal message at the moment reads

Packing my bags, heading to California.

That line actually got one of my friends into talking to me. He was curious to know if that was true. Well, obviously that wasn’t true. And when he knew that, the conversation sort of died.

I thought someone’s finally talking to me on MSN. I guess I’m just …

Nahhh, just kidding. Who uses MSN nowadays?

And Then There Were None - Spring Awakening

I mentioned this song in my previous post. I’ve been listening to it for 4 hours straight on my iPod. 4 hours, and my ears thought it was D-Day.

I’m not sure if any of you would like this kind of song, but it’s a musical thing. Something that I’m really into. AND IT’S A MUSICAL I DIDN’T GET TO WATCH LAST YEAR!! $#%$%#%!!

Here’s why, the premier was on 2nd December 2010. And my flight back was on the same day as well. If only it premiered a day earlier. It would have meant so much to me.

Played 0 times.

Randomness #1

I was called by a friend yesterday to go to this sacred place where I learned something very meaningful. I learned that we shouldn’t take everything for granted, especially when we are happy. I know, that doesn’t sound right, but take a look at this example.

As we all know, a huge tsunami hit Thailand on Boxing Day 2004. None of the people there saw that coming, because everyone was too busy having fun. It was a holiday, it was Boxing Day, worries and work and school and more worries were the last things on their heads. Then out of no where, there was this huge wave, that gobbled up everything, so quickly that our eyes did not believe that it was actually happening. Nobody knew about that until it happened.

So, what I’m trying to say is that, when you are having the best times of your lives, don’t expect nothing bad will happen. Anything can happen, anytime, anywhere.

Randomness #2

I woke up this morning, feeling very lazy. I didn’t feel like doing anything. I have class at 9am tomorrow, I know if I lay in bed all day listening to songs, I wouldn’t be able to sleep at night. Hence I went out to the city, for no particular reason. It was good, I end up having a new song addiction. And Then There Were None from Spring Awakening. I will talk about the song in my next post. The weather’s getting really cold these days. And guess what? I’m actually enjoying/loving it! I’m enjoying winter, I couldn’t believe myself!

california time

The phrase I googled the most recently.

It’s just that all the people I meet these days are from California.

Well, you got to admit that most of the cool people are from Cali.

I can easily list 10 out.

I love Western United States - San Francisco, Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, to name a few.

Can someone please bring me there?
